Juicers recalled after reports of them exploding, injuring people

A juicer is being recalled because it has been exploding, injuring dozens of people.

In Thursday's recall for the PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicer, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the juicers have ruptured while being used, hitting customers with debris.

Even if the juicers don’t break apart, they can leave small particle shavings in the juice which can cause an injury if swallowed.

There have been 261 reports of incidents and 47 reports of injuries.

Some of those injuries were severe cuts that required stitches and people who needed medical attention after ingesting small particles.

The models affected by this recall are PowerXL SHL96 and SHL90-SC Self-Cleaning Juicers. Those model numbers are on the bottom or back of the juicer.
