A thermometer is being recalled after reports of children being severely burned.

5 On Your Side said the Food and Drug Administration recall involves the Walnut Wearable Smart Thermometer in the shape of a cartoon penguin.

Chemicals can leak from the thermometer and there have been reports of children burned or suffering skin irritation.

Parents should stop using the thermometer immediately and return it to the manufacturer BearCare.

The Walnut Thermometer is an over-the-counter rechargeable thermometer used for continuous chest temperature monitoring of children under 6.

It was sold online through Amazon, Walmart and walnutcares.com from December 2022 through April 2023.

The Lot Number of the product is 20221115W002 and the model number is WT20.

The manufacturer, BearCare, Inc., is asking people who have these thermometers to return the product for a full refund.
