Man found dead outside VA hospital in Fayetteville was injured in family argument

Police are investigating after a man was found dead Thursday outside the gates of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Officers around 4:30 a.m. responded to the VA medical center at 2300 Ramsey St., where they found the man.

Investigators determined the man was injured in a fight between family members in the 2300 block of Lake Ave. According to police, a friend drove the man to the VA medical center, the closest hospital, but the man's condition worsened and the friend stopped outside the gates to wait for emergency responders.

The man died before he could be treated.

The cause of death was not provided.
