A 32-year-old man was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train early Wednesday morning, according to officials.
Douglas Ray Hawley, from Fuquay-Varina, died near the East Parrish Drive crossing in Benson at around 2 a.m.
Officials said that he was partially laying on one of the rails when he was struck and killed by a train traveling north.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No evidence of foul play was found, according to the Johnston County Medical Examiner.
