Three Wake County men, three scratch-off lottery wins combine for $600,000

Three Wake County men won a combined $600,000 Tuesday after purchasing scratch-off tickets from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

In Cary, James Brown purchased a Lucky Ice ticket for $5 from the Harris Teeter at Grande Heights Drive in Cary, winning the game's top prize of $200,000.

In Raleigh, Y Eban purchased a $5 Super Loteria ticket from Grewal Mart on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh and won the $150,000 grand prize. Of the six $150,000 prizes, four have been won since the game debuted in May.

Lastly, Tony Horton, of Zebulon, purchased a $5 20X The Cash ticket for $5 at the R&R Foot Mart on Brantleytown Road in Zebulon and won $250,000.

After required state and federal taxes, Brown took home $142,501, Eban took home $106,876 and Horton took home $178,126.

The North Carolina Education Lottery said ticket sales from scratch-off games have made it possible for the lottery to raise an average of $2.5 million per day for education.
